Human Resource Manager

En grupp anställda sitter framför bärbara datorer på ett kontor.
HR managers often work with salaries, contracts, recruitment and book keeping.

The majority of our workforce is recruited and hired locally in the countries where we work. As a human resource manager in one of our projects you hold a key position to ensure we have adequate staffing to carry out our medical activities.

To work as a human resource manager with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is a rewarding and fulfilling job. You will have the opportunity to work with human resources from many different perspectives in a fast-changing environment that will test your abilities in new ways.

Role description HR manager

MSF HR managers manage everything from salaries and contracts to administrative and recruitment processes. You are usually the manager for local human resources and administrative staff and act as HR support for other managers in the project. The responsibilities also include identifying needs for capacity-building, e.g. planning and implementing trainings and workshops. You are responsible for the daily practical administrative tasks needed to carry out our work.

The human resource manager ensures that we follow our internal procedures as well as the national laws and regulations of the country. You  may also be the point of contact with some local authorities and represent MSF in various situations.

Your tasks and responsibilities may differ depending on the type of project you are assigned to. In one project the focus might be on recruiting a large number of staff in a short time to meet changing demands within our programme. In a more stable setting on the other hand, the focus may be on capacity-building and professional development of locally hired staff.

Human resource managers usually work in one of our projects in the country. With increasing experience, you may also work as a part of the coordination team in a major city.
